SendGuard prompt styles - choose what works best for your team

SendGuard can prompt and/or warn you in 3 different ways!

SMART ALERT TASK PANE (side panel next to email)
By default, your SendGuard 365 trial (Pro and Premium) uses the SmartAlert Task Pane - this is the new Microsoft-recommended experience for modern Outlook.

It shows a clear summary of potential issues (recipients, attachments, sensitive data, etc.) in a side panel before the email is sent.

The advantage of this prompt style is that if for some unlikely reason the addin is not reachable/operational, users can still send out emails (but without the SendGuard prompts/checks)

Another advantage is that users are able to review and change the email while the Task Pane is visible.

The disadvantage of this prompt style is a small prompt (one extra click) before the Task Pane is displayed. Unfortunately, Microsoft does not allow users to turn off this prompt.

SIMPLE PROMPT

A simple prompt to confirm recipients and attachments

INTERACTIVE PROMPT (POP UP)

Pop-Up screens are displayed to confirm recipients and attachments. Similar prompts are also used for DLP and SendRules. The prompts have to be closed in order to make changes to the email.

The advantage of this prompt is that it is similar to the Classic prompt where users were used to in SendGuard for Classic Outlook.

The disadvantage of this prompt style is that if for some unlikely reason the addin is not reachable/operational, users will not be able to send out emails from Outlook Classic, New Outlook or OWA. Users will still be able to send out emails using Outlook for Mobile (iOS and Android).
This is controlled by Microsoft and they are not planning to change this. For this reason, we do recommend the Smart Alert version for most users (which still allows emails to be sent out without any prompt if the addin is not available).

If you’d like to try a different prompt style, please contact your Account Manager or email us at support@standss.com  (Changing prompt styles requires an updated manifest, so we’ll send you the right one).
