Why does SendGuard need permissions to read email and calendar?

The permissions shown are standard for Outlook add-ins and are required for SendGuard to check the email/event and display recipients etc to the user for confirmation.

• Mailbox read access is only used at send-time to check recipients, attachments, and content for potential errors (e.g., wrong recipient, missing attachment, sensitive data). 
• Calendar access is part of Microsoft’s default permission set for Outlook add-ins and is not used by SendGuard for any processing or storage. 

Importantly:

• SendGuard does not store or extract email or calendar data externally. 
• All processing happens on your local computer if you are using the Lite or Pro versions. 
• We are Microsoft 365 Certified, which includes security and compliance validation. 

In short: these permissions enable protection, not data access or data mining.
